We have an immediate need for a Civil Engineer to work at our client's site in Bayway, NJ.
Job Description:
This is a contract assignment thru CDI.
The Civil Design Engineer is responsible for refinery civil engineering maintenance trouble shooting and capital projects. This involves designing and/or specifying earthwork, foundations, concrete / steel structures and marine facilities. The Engineer will report to the Mechanical & Reliability Engineering Team, Mechanical Design Group Leader. The Engineer will give direction to Contract Civil Designers. The Engineer will work with other functional specialists auditing the construction contractors on small and large capital project to highlight deviations from the Codes Standards and the COP Refinery Engineering Practices. The Engineer will act as the refineries Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Civil Engineering.
Responsibilities
??? Designing pipe supports based on Refinery standards.
??? Designing foundations for rotating equipment, compressors, pressure vessels and tanks in accordance with ACI standards.
??? Designing access platforms, handrails and ladders based on OSHA requirements.
??? Designing steel structures like stacks, and flares in accordance with ASCE, AISC requirements.
??? Designing refinery buildings like analyzer sheds control houses in accordance with UBC standards.
??? Experience with design of earthwork excavations, paving, sewer systems, concrete foundations, pile foundations, sheet piling, caisson foundations, and marine structures such as piers and docks is a plus.
??? Be able to make simple hand / AutoCad drawings.
??? Knowing how to use STAAD and MS Excel spreadsheets to aid in the design.
??? Be able to manage own work and complete projects in a timely fashion.

Qualifications
??? Must be eligible to work in the United States on a regular full-time basis.
??? Civil Engineering Bachelors or Masters Degree
??? NJ Professional Engineers License
??? Familiar with making hand sketches and using AutoCad.
??? Knowledge of InnoCielo Teamwork and GTX is a plus.
??? Hold a valid driver???s license.
??? Transport Workers Identification Card (TWIC) card holder or be eligible to obtain upon employment.
??? Must be willing and able to perform / comply with the following:
??? Wear Nomex fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (such as safety shoes, ear and eye protection).
??? Maintain facial hair daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven).
??? Work outdoors, possibly in inclement weather conditions
??? Lift (raise and transport 50 pounds), bend, stoop.
??? Work in confined spaces, climb stairs, ladders and work at various levels above ground
??? Pass drug and alcohol screening tests at time of employment, yearly thereafter and random
??? Familiar with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
??? Be able to read and understand English.
